Send a folder in the browser
Choose a folder, keep empty subfolders where the browser allows it and send it as a protected archive.
You need
A browser that can select a folder, and free local browser storage for the archive.
- Choose Choose folder, or drag a single folder into the folder area.
- Read the note about empty subfolders. Full directory access and supported drag and drop can include empty folders.
- If the browser selection only delivers files, pipeit asks explicitly whether to continue without empty subfolders. If they matter, cancel and use a supported full selection.
- Wait for the local preparation. The protected archive is built in local browser file storage, so space must be free. You can cancel the preparation.
- Choose the recipient and the transfer route. On a suitable recipient the protected archive is unpacked with pipeit.
Limits: up to 10,000 files, 10,000 directories and 8 GiB of archive size. The maximum sum of the original files is lower because of the archive structure: 8 GiB minus 32 MiB. An ordinary ZIP program does not replace unpacking with pipeit. This browser route differs from the native folder stream without a full archive; see Send a folder or only its contents.

Does a folder have to be stored twice first?
The native folder stream builds no full archive, but the receiving side still needs space while it checks.

Send large files
In the browser, large transfers use the encrypted pipeit relay and need both sides reachable until they finish; the apps also connect directly.
